South Carolina freshman Wesley Bryan carded a second-round 69 (-1) on the No. 4 course at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club to earn the second seed in match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship. He finished two strokes behind medalist Robbie Fillmore, who blistered the No. 4 course with a 65 on Tuesday. Gamecock junior Paul Woodbury will join Bryan in match play as he finished stroke play in 33rd place, while 2007-08 senior Mark Anderson closed the first portion of the event in 47th position. more

Sylvia Fowles scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the U.S. to a 104-60 rout of South Korea on Tuesday night and advance to the semifinals of women's basketball. It's the sixth straight Olympics that the Americans have advanced to the medal round. The only time they didn't qualify for the semis in the history of women's basketball was in 1980 and that's because the U.S. boycotted the Moscow Games. more
